Re: Shamguy4's Log
Instead of thinking "let's see which career may be best" try a more proactive approach.
What type of career do you think you would enjoy. Analyze it, make sure you understand procisely what is required. Find a firm in said field that you would like to eventually get a job with (I.e. "Goldman Sachs for a Finance major" or "Google for software engineering" etc).
Contact the HR department at your desired company, and find out what the typical job entails. "Do you need to go to graduate school?" is a big question, find out if Ned Ned Flander has any connection with that company.
Discover what you enjoy, and find out how to make money from it. Next year, IM"H, Ned Ned Flander will be offering Web and Media Design courses, as the beginning of a new Graphics Major. You enjoy playing around with Gimp, why not learn how to use it professionally?

Re: Shamguy4's Log
Thanks,
I want to learn graphica badlt, bit I think I would rather it as a minor... Do they teach html and stuff in the wqeb design? cause that would be cool and maybe then I would make it my major...
I have always enjoyed creativity... its my one special thing....and computers so together they have lots in common
Gimp falls under creativity.... but so does programming
(especially creating games, which was a passion I had since like tenth grade... to make games...But then I realized that over 50 people are in the credits at the end of the game...so I dont really know how much of it I am actually creating and I dont know if I will move ahead...)
I also enjoy something totally different which may be a major thing in my life...
I enjoy writing... I want to write a novel.. a science fantasy one...
.....I already have been writing it for two years so.... (but recently class and this website and more have been getting in the way... its hard to focus on it... especially when it involves day dreaming for it during the day which is something I cant afford....)
So this is all going through my mind....
thanks for posting!!

Re: Shamguy4's Log
Writing is very tough. Having read LOTS of science fiction and fantasy, i could tell there are good authors and there are bad authors. If you want to be an author, you should definitely take classes in advanced writing and journalism.
If you are intrested in Web Design, I believe they will be teaching HTML but i dont know for sure. I think it will start as a minor only, and then move up to a full major over the course of a year or two.

Re: Shamguy4's Log
I asked the guy at the computer club he said minor is a harder thing than a major.. I think.... he said he wanted to make a major...
well I will have to see......
I really enjoy writing and I have given people my chapters and I recieved good responses:
some wanted know what happened next, in fact one person "stole" my notebook to see the next chapter....yeah.....I killed him....
another person tolde me it was good but he saw one or two things that needed corrections but overall I think I write well.
My big problem is consistency....I need a lot of free time just to get 'into it' then I need to write it...
it's very time consuming and kindo of antisocial...

Re: Shamguy4's Log
Its easy to write a few chapters. Its very hard to write a whole book. If you are interested in writing a short story/ small novel, i can getyou in touch with an associate of mine. Let me know later.

Re: Shamguy4's Log
At least 75% of all new novels published in a given year end up gathering dust because no one is intrested. Its only the best of the best that attract any kind of following, if you do that kinda thing, you gotta get a really good editor.

Re: Shamguy4's Log
I have gone to the library sometimes and I have asked "whats a popular book now?"
(then they point to Harry Potter and I say "no... another one...")
Once or twice they pointed to a book and I have read it and it quite frankly sucked and made me feel good.... cause if this book could make it, for sure mine will....
My story is awesome!!
its a really good story and the plot is thick, and I'm good... I'm a good writer ...I dont just write a bunch of beautiful words.. I make sure it all fits.... I am very neurotic when it comes to writing....
(on these posts I dont realy care much so... you may find some mistakes and stuff... but the one or two posts I write in the story section should give you a glimpse of my writing....)
so... I am fine
but a good editor would also be nice....

A good editor is always NECESSARY! Even if it is the most amazing story in the world, it is always necessary to have an editor
