The Tale of the Artistic Cantaloupe

Gather round all ye children.
I shall relate; listen well;
the tale of the artistic cantaloupe.
Yes indeed, I shall tell.

It began on a sunny afternoon,
following the traditional b'kius test.
Koops the Zalmanian and Komrade Kastenoff
were wandering the campus at their own behest.

Lo, upon the garden box
did they spy a most impressive sight:
a cantaloupe of exceptional proportions
resting on the sill and giving off light.

Kastenoff rushed to the sill
to investigate more closely,
and the Zalmanian followed after
for the same reason, mostly.

Kastenoff raised the cantaloupe
and declared with fervor,
"An artistic cantaloupe!
Of which I am an observer."

The Zalmanian inquired--
quite rightly, I might add--
"Why's this cantaloupe so artistic
that you should shout out like mad?"

Whereupon Kastenoff answered,
"Is it not obvious? Yes quite;
if cast from the second floor window
would'nt yon pavement bear a most artistic sight?"

"Yes quite," the Zalmanian agreed,
"I now see your reasoning,
but what will become of cantaloupe;
shall we apply seasoning?"

So Kastenof declared,
picking up and waving a large stick,
"We must bring it to Gabe,
who I hear has taken sick."

"The vitamins contained
in this most artistic fruit
will heal our good friend
and make him an artist to boot."

"A daring proposal,"
the Zalmanian agreed,
"So let us be off
tarrying no longer than we need."

Thus, off they went,
visiting poor Gabe that same day,
presenting him the cantaloupe;
what he thought, who can say?

Gabe did recover!
I'm happy to yell.
But as for being an artist...
who can tell?

The moral my listeners
is to remember your friend,
for the gift of a cantaloupe
